Top Access

Top Access for home theatre equipment - access to rear of components from above

(Shadowline cabinet with slide out top)

One of the most frustrating things about having audio-visual equipment inside a cabinet is the awkwardness of hooking up the cables. The process of pulling equipment forward and trying to fight all the cables can test the best of us.

Having access to the back of your cabinet from above can greatly help your access to the mess of cables you will have to deal with.

We have two methods of removable top.

Slide out top as shown above, is fixed to the cabinet on heavy-duty slide out runners. The runners we use are extremely heavy duty, allowing you to still place a monitor on the bench
The advantage of this style of top is that it is relatively easy to slide out for one person. The disadvantage being you have to reach over the top to gain access to the middle of the cabinet.

Lift off top as shown below, is a top that can be simply lifted off. When sitting on the cabinet the top is locked into position with lugs that stop it moving. The advantage of this style of top is the ability to remove the top completely out of the way, allowing good access all around. Disadvantage being two people are usually needed to lift it off, and the possibility of damage when moving top around.
